Chicago Ballet Company Auditions Talent for Celebrated Art Deco Nutcracker Production

A&A BALLET Opens Auditions for All Roles – Dancers Ages 4-24 – Starting September 7, 2024

Chicago, IL (July 2024) – Chicago’s renowned A&A BALLET Company is excited to announce auditions for its critically acclaimed Art Deco Nutcracker 2024. This unique rendition of the classic holiday ballet has garnered praise for its innovative choreography, stunning period costumes, and captivating set designs, all inspired by the glamorous, exuberant Art Deco era of the 1920s.

A&A Ballet Art Deco Nutcracker Auditions

A&A is looking for performers of all skill levels and dance forms to bring the magic of this one-of-a-kind Nutcracker to life. Dancers from all over Chicagoland are invited to audition for a chance to be part of this extraordinary production.

Auditions will be held on Saturdays in September at A&A BALLET studios from 11:00 a.m-12:00p.m.

A&A BALLET Artistic Director Alexei Kremnev expressed enthusiasm about this year's auditions, stating, "Our Art Deco Nutcracker is a beloved Chicago family holiday tradition that brings a fresh and enchanting twist to a classic tale. The Art Deco Nutcracker has been a staple of the A&A BALLET Company's repertoire since 2016 and is celebrated for its imaginative interpretation and the immersive experience it offers to audiences. This year's production promises to be even more spectacular, with new elements and surprises that will captivate both newcomers and long-time fans alike.

Auditions are open to children and young adults of all levels and styles of dance ages 4-24.

Audition Attire: Girls-black camisole leotard, pink footed tights, pink canvas ballet and pointe shoes (age/level appropriate); Boys-black footed tights, white tight fitted t-shirt, black ballet shoes. The audition will include some basic dance movements and a combination to be performed in character. No preparation of audition material is necessary. Dancers will be notified via email within the week after the audition if they have been cast. A production fee will be required for dancers performing “The Art Deco Nutcracker” and varies depending on role. Rehearsals begin in September and will take place primarily on Saturdays.

When: Saturdays September 7, 14, 21, 28 and October 5, 2024 I 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Where: All auditions will be held at the A&A BALLET Center for Dance at 731 S. Plymouth Ct, Chicago, IL 60605

Who: Ballet company, A&A BALLET, was founded in 2016 by Alexei Kremnev and Anna Reznik. Both are distinguished dancers with experience as Artistic Directors at the Joffrey Ballet Academy and the Joffrey Studio Company. “The Art Deco Nutcracker” is Kremnev’s 11 full-length ballet. His work has been presented at the world-renowned Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Lincoln Center in New York, and the Opernhaus Zurich in Switzerland, among other prestigious venues across the globe. Both Kremnev and Reznik have been recognized as Influential People in the Arts in Cincinnati and have received multiple awards for their leadership.

About A&A Ballet

A&A BALLET is based in Chicago’s state-of-the-art A&A BALLET Center for Dance and is devoted to training in strong, versatile dance techniques, as well as the development of personality, independence and artistry.
